Depaul France
In an effort to participate in our logo (2)community, the Franco-British Chamber has chosen this year to support the charity Depaul France. Whilst Calais and the wider European refugee crisis is in the news every day, on our doorstep in Paris are substantial numbers of homeless people who are helped by Depaul to regain some of their dignity and guided to begin the process of integration back into society.

Created in June 2013, Depaul relies on an international network of charities involving 500 employees and over 1100 volunteers (2014), to provide support to over 13,500 people in countries such as Britain, Ireland, Slovakia, Ukraine and the United States.

Having numerous innovative ways to respond to their situation, Depaul France’s mission is to give the homeless and disadvantaged people the opportunity to become accomplished, and to progress towards a positive and independent future. Although Paris has many initiatives for those who are deprived, it still remains limited and often difficult. One of their beliefs is that access to hygiene is a necessary step to regaining confidence, which is why their projects have the aim of enabling people to meet their basic needs.

One of Depaul France’s main projects is the Accueil Périchaux, a day care centre offering access to daily hygiene and health support (including showers, laundry room, hairdresser etc). Opened in September 2015, it is set in the 15th district, and it offers services 5 days a week. Alongside with the Accueil Périchaux, the Depaul Mobile Shower is one of the highlights of the organisation’s activities in Paris. It consists of a mobile health service in a camping car, which provides once a week, a warm shower, toiletries and a coffee over a welcoming reception and an information session on the support network in Paris.

Depaul France is looking for volunteers, and the Board is open to new members. We would be grateful if you personally, your colleagues or your company could look at helping the charity in some way. There will also be opportunities to do so at various FBCCI events throughout the year.

Mediterranean Anglo-American Business Network
The MAABNMAABN logo (Mediterranean Anglo-American Business Network) is a non-profit organisation that promotes and supports Franco-American and Franco-British business and cultural relations. The MAABN was founded in 2004 by company directors, consultants and economic development agencies. It has developed into an international platform for corporate and cultural exchanges and business networking in the Marseille-Provence region. The MAABN organises a monthly English-speaking business networking evening as well as various themed conferences. It also supports and promotes corporate and cultural events organised by its sponsors and partners across the region.
