Foreword by Thierry Drilhon,
President of the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry
After a well-deserved break, I wish you a nice Rentrée with many business opportunities to capture.
The next few weeks will be essential to find a well-balanced agreement between the UK and the EU. My recent meeting with the new Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Jeremy Hunt, gave me confidence. Then pragmatism and pro-business attitude are back on the table.
Although uncertainty remains, I continue to believe that Brexit is a great opportunity for our companies to invest in both France and the United Kingdom. It is a great economic opportunity to benefit from; a great opportunity to reinforce the historic ties which link our two nations and finally it is a great opportunity for our young people.
This year, as we celebrate the 145th anniversary of the Chamber, I think of all of my predecessors, who, like me today, had the honour of being its President, and all of those who worked in order to create this dynamic network for our companies.
With passion, determination and pragmatism, I want to continue to reinforce the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s leading role in helping companies to strengthen the relationship between France and the United Kingdom. Our cross-Channel ties have existed for centuries and will continue to flourish in the coming years.
Thank you for your loyalty. Together we can approach our future with confidence.
