On the 31st of January 2019, the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the President’s New Year’s Reception at the residence of the British Ambassador to France, in the presence of the Deputy Trade Commissioner for Europe, Oriel Petry.
The Reception started with champagne and canapés in the Salon Rouge. Over 150 guests then moved through to the Ball Room where the President of the Chamber, Thierry Drilhon, welcomed them. Thierry then thanked Oriel Petry and Paul Taylor from the Department for International Trade for their support.
Oriel Petry then welcomed guests on behalf of the Embassy. She spoke about how the historic ties between the Franco-British Chamber and the Embassy have helped to develop economic activity between the two countries and is continuing to do so in the current climate of uncertainty.
Thierry Drilhon then retook the podium in order to announce the Chamber’s new strategic plan and unveil the new logo. This strategic plan includes a new partnership and think tank with PwC called the Cross Channel Institute.
Jimmy Zou, partner at PwC explained how the Cross Channel Institute would operate as an independent, non-profit think tank dedicated to fostering Franco-British business relationships through analysis and debate and to providing Franco-British members innovative insight. Its purpose is to propose a platform for European and British stakeholders in the future state negotiations and construct a new business relationship between France and the United Kingdom beyond Brexit.
Thierry Drilhon then awarded Olivier Campenon, former President and current Vice-President of the Chamber with an officer’s medal to thank him for his services to the Chamber, underlining how much Olivier was appreciated by the Chamber’s members during his presidency.
The evening was rounded off with more champagne and canapés in the Salon Bleu.
