A new law concerning the management of the sanitary crisis was adopted in the night of the 25th to the 26th of July in the National Assembly and the Senate. The government hopes that the text will come into effect in early August.
Two measures directly affect labor law: the possession of a health pass for employees working in establishments open to the public from 30th August. These workers will have to present either a certification of vaccination, a negative test or a certificate of recovery from contamination. Health care workers and those working with vulnerable persons will be required to be vaccinated as of September 15, 2021. Until then, they can present a valid health pass.
Employees who are required to be vaccinated or to present a valid health pass may have their employment contract suspended by their employer if they are unable to present the required proof. If the suspension of the employment contract lasts longer than three days, the employer must call the employee to an interview to discuss ways of rectifying the situation.
