In response to increasing worries surrounding the new Omicron variant, the British government has introduced new travel measures to take effect at 4am on Tuesday 7th December 2021 for all those travelling to the UK.
From Tuesday 7th, ALL travellers to the UK will now need to take a COVID test BEFORE their journey, as well as one when they arrive.
Here are the complete set of rules :
Before departure: All travellers to the UK aged 12 and over will have to show proof of a negative test, even if they are fully vaccinated.
This can be a PCR or a lateral flow test, and must be taken no more than 48 hours before departure for the UK.
After departure: All travellers to the UK aged 12 and over have two days to take a PCR test, which must be booked before travel.
While waiting for a result, all travellers must self-isolate – irrespective of their vaccination status and can stop self-isolating only if their test is negative.
All travellers to the UK must also fill in a passenger locator form no more than 48 hours before their journey.
